Managing emergencies. Despite our best efforts, sometimes things don’t always go to plan. Please remind yourself of our essential safety guidelines, so you’re prepared and know what to do in an emergency:

  • Purple Card: Tells you what to do in emergencies and how to stay safe during Scouts events. Keep a copy with you during all Scouts activities.
  • InTouch System: Good communication is important. Keep contact details updated and establish clear communication channels. This helps everyone know what’s happening and how they can be reached quickly if needed.
  • Emergency Procedures: Understand how to call for help, notify Lead Volunteers, and inform UK Headquarters in emergencies.

Staying safe in the hot weather. Help everyone enjoy the sunshine safely by following these simple tips:

  • Sun: Use SPF30+ sunscreen (reapply often), wear a hat, cover up, and don’t forget sunglasses.
  • Shade: Plan for breaks in the shade, especially between hotter hours (11am to 3pm).
  • Hydration: Make sure everyone has water and is drinking regularly.

Further advice is available on our hot weather and summer activity webpage
