Adult ‘Scouting Skills’ Weekend - 4th to 6th April

This weekend is free for all adult members of Scouting in Scouts Hereford and Worcester. Outside of the County there is a £20 fee per adult and £5 fee per child for non-county members. Whether you want to camp or just visit for the day, there’s something for everyone

  • Location: The Ridgeway, Powick, Worcester, WR2 4SN
    (Scouts Worcester’s new district camping facilities)
  • Start Time: Camp opens Friday evening from 6 PM
  • Programme of Activities: Skills sessions on Saturday Day and Sunday Morning
  • Saturday Evening:
    • Cheese and Wine Social
    • Campfire
  • Need to Book on by 19th January 2025

 

Skills on Offer

Choose from a variety of skills sessions depending on availability and numbers:

  1. Navigation and Orienteering
  2. Camping – Camp Craft
  3. Survival Skills
  4. Pioneering
  5. Adventurous Activities: The Guide
  6. Nature Awareness – Fauna and Flora Walks
  7. Wide Games (by Fletch)
  8. Team Building Games
  9. Creative Arts
  10. STEM Activities
  11. Grants – Applying for and Advice
  12. Shooting and Archery
  13. Knife, Axe, and Saw
  14. Cooking and Nutrition
  15. Environmental Impact – Addressing the Programme
  16. Emergency Preparedness
  17. Section Forums
  18. International – Planning and Delivering

We’re open to suggestions, too! When you book, you can let us know your preferences and any suggestions. We will provide you with the full programme and timetable as we approach the event.

 


 

Accommodation Options

 

You can camp from the Friday to the Sunday. There is no indoor accommodation. The venue is suited to tents and campervans/ caravans. There is no electricity.

 

You may choose to attend as a day visitor.

Dogs are permitted as long as they are human-friendly. They must be on a leash at all times, and dog waste must be picked up and taken home.

 

There is no rubbish collection on site.

 

Toilets will be available, and depending on the numbers, we may provide shower facilities.

 


 

Food Options

 

Central catering is available for the weekend at an additional cost of £15 per person.
Menu includes:

  • Breakfast: Breakfast Bap and Cereal
  • Lunch: Buffet
  • Dinner: BBQ (Saturday)
  • Sunday Breakfast: Breakfast Bap

Alternatively, you can self-cater for the event. There are no electricity or refrigeration facilities on site.

 


 

Important Information

  • Fires are permitted with alterfires only. Ensure you have a water bucket/extinguisher nearby and leave no trace after use.
  • Take your rubbish home with you.
  • Free Tea, coffee, and squash will be available throughout the weekend – remember to bring your own mug.
  • You can bring your children, but you are responsible for them.
  • Follow the Green and Yellow Card principles.
  • Wear a knecker at all times when on site
